Pamela Smith Hudson

Pamela Smith Hudson is a Los Angeles-based mixed media artist. Before she began exhibiting her own work in 2016, Smith Hudson spent 20 years in the art material industry as an art educator and consultant for some of the most innovative art material manufacturers across the globe. Now, she experiments with materials like clay, graphite, watercolor and encaustic elements to create topographical works documenting her connections to the city, and to the land.

Smith Hudson was the subject of a two-person show, Charting the Terrain, at the California African American Museum in 2018, and her works are included in the collections at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the California African American Museum of Art. As an educator, she has collaborated with the Broad Museum and the Getty Museum on videos about encaustic painting.
